ÁùºÏͼ¿â to break ground on Doppler Radar

The University of Louisiana at Monroe will break ground on a much-anticipated projectÌýat 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, at 807 HWY 80.Ìý

The ÁùºÏͼ¿â Doppler Radar, funded by GOHSEP (the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness), Ìýwill fill a dire need in the region, with the closest Doppler systems being housed in Shreveport and Jackson.

The new radar will provide coverage for Caldwell, East Carroll, Franklin, Jackson, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, Union and West Carroll Parishes.

The radar serves a pivotal addition for northeast Louisiana, and for the ÁùºÏͼ¿â atmospheric science program.
