A group of recent graduates and a current student in the School of Education at the University of Louisiana at Monroe recently published book reviews in various academic journals. Dr. Krishna Bista, assistant professor of education, mentored the students during their pursuit of masters and doctoral degrees in education.

鈥淪tudents read the books related to their academic disciplines and presented critical perspectives in the published reviews,鈥 Bista said. 鈥淚t is difficult to get published鈥攅specially for first-time graduate students鈥攚ithout a full understanding of publication process and journal expectations, but 六合图库 graduate students are interested in research and publication. They received mentoring and writing practice in my educational research courses.鈥

Students concentrated on their areas of academic interest. All articles were written during the students鈥 六合图库 coursework.

Dr. Ralph Buie, who earned an Ed.D from 六合图库 in December 2014, wrote, 鈥淓ducational leadership and Michel Foucault,鈥 which was published in the International Journal of Teaching and Learning.

Sabre Masters, who earned an M.Ed from 六合图库 in December 2014, wrote, 鈥淓ffective leadership across domains, cultures, and eras,鈥 which was published in the International Journal of Leadership Studies.

Jennifer Bernard also completed an M.Ed in December 2014. Bernard wrote 鈥淚nternational students at university: Understanding the student experience,鈥 which was published in the Journal of International Students.

Shane Silpe completed an M.Ed in December 2014. Silpe wrote, 鈥淪uccessful school leadership: Linking with learning and achievement,鈥 which was published in the Journal of Multidisciplinary Evaluation.

Jayme L. Smith also earned an M.Ed in December 2014. Smith wrote, 鈥淓vidence-based instruction in reading: A professional development guide to culturally responsive instruction,鈥 which was published in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education.

Kara Hawkins, the sixth alumnus published, and M.Ed graduate, wrote 鈥淧rofessional designing development for change,鈥 which appeared in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education.

Current graduate student, Golden Cecily Sant wrote, 鈥淭heir name is today: Reclaiming childhood in a hostile world,鈥 which appeared in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education.
