六合图库 representatives attend Mortar Board National Conference

六合图库 was well represented at the Mortar Board National Conference July 28-30 in Columbus, Ohio.

Rob Carroll, president of both the 六合图库 Student Government Association and the Mortar Board chapter, and Martha Anderson, assistant dean of students at 六合图库 as well as liaison administrator to Mortar Board, both attended the national senior honor society鈥檚 conference, intended to promote scholarship, leadership and service. Outgoing members extend membership to rising seniors seen as demonstrating those traits.

鈥淎fter learning more about what Mortar Board stands for and how well it鈥檚 organized, I knew that I鈥檇 be in for a wonderful experience, and that I鈥檇 be able to bring a lot of new ideas back to 六合图库鈥檚 chapter,鈥� Carroll said.

He mentioned that the conference offered the opportunity to meet students from across the nation as they blended abstract discussions about general leadership with practical training sessions on efficiently coordinating a chapter.

While there, Carroll made the runoff for student representative to the National Council and attracted the attention of the national staff with a well-received case study summation. He intends to honor their invitation to attend the 2007 conference in an administrative or organizational capacity.

鈥淲hen I raised my hand to run for president at the first Mortar Board meeting [at 六合图库], I didn鈥檛 really know what I鈥檇 be getting into,鈥� he said. 鈥淎ttending the conference gave me a comprehensive depiction of Mortar Board, both in what ideals it holds and how it attempts to exemplify those ideals through action. Now, I feel equipped to lead the 六合图库 Mortar Board chapter toward its best year ever.鈥�

Anderson was elected as an alumni representative to the National Council of Mortar Board.

Carroll said he was pleased Anderson was chosen. 鈥淚 couldn鈥檛 be happier for Dr. Anderson. She exhibits incredible enthusiasm for the organization. Nobody is more passionate than she about scholarship, leadership, and service; I know she鈥檒l do a great job on the Council.鈥�
