Global Studies program to offer new courses

The Global Studies program at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will expand its catalog offerings in the 2007-8 academic year, adding new courses with international content.

Originally formed by Barbara Michaelides, now director of university retention, the program has been in place for over two years and offers a unique interdisciplinary concentration currently available to French and Spanish majors.

Its curriculum features courses selected for their international content and drawn from a variety of fields, including business, economics, government, mass communications and economics. The Global Studies option caters to the needs of students who desire to combine language study with a solid background in business, public policy and/or public relations. Such a uniquely flexible approach offers students a wide range of practical skills that will help to prepare them for rewarding careers international in scope.
