ÁùºÏͼ¿â Venturers Club plans inaugural camping trip for March 17 – 18

The ÁùºÏͼ¿â Venturers Club is now forming and planning its inaugural camping trip for March 17 – 18 in the wooded wilderness of northeast Louisiana.

Katrina Durrett, director of the ÁùºÏͼ¿â aquatic services/natatorium and expert camper, will oversee all activities at TL James Boy Scout Camp in Downsville, approximately 45 minutes from ÁùºÏͼ¿â. Greg Nelson, director of ÁùºÏͼ¿â’s Annual Giving, will also lend his camping and Boy Scouts of America leadership skills as co-host.

The intent is to provide ÁùºÏͼ¿â students with the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor camping experience in a scenic natural setting. There are three pristine lakes on the 1,400-acre property. The campground area includes private hot showers, toilet facilities, and tree houses or tents for overnight accommodations.

All critical camping gear will be provided. Intoxicating substances, weapons or fireworks are not allowed at any scout camp. Opposite-sex sharing of tents and tree houses are likewise prohibited. A married couples camping trip may be planned later if there is sufficient interest.

Space is limited to the first 20 people. The cost will be $25 per person. To sign up, go to the ÁùºÏͼ¿â Natatorium, fill out waivers and pay the fee.
