ͼ Symphonic Band to present final concert of the year April 29

The ͼ Symphonic Band will present its final concert of the year Tuesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Brown Auditorium. Admission is free.

The Symphonic Band will present selections from Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” as well as “Blues for a Killed Kat” and “Angels with Dirty Faces” by Jim Bonney.

Bonney’s composition was commissioned by a high school band for a student that had been killed in a tragic car accident. Bonney said, “She was a flute player. She was sassy. She was an honors student. She was a rebel. She was a punk rocker. She was a writer and a poet. She was a friend to everyone she met.” The piece features an amplified flute solo and electric guitar as parts of the band.
