Adams named the 2008 Recipient of the 六合图库 Athletic Scholarship Foundation Academic Award

Dr. Mary E. Adams, assistant professor of English at 六合图库, was honored by her peers Thursday, Aug. 21, as the 2008 Recipient of the 六合图库 Athletic Scholarship Foundation Academic Award.

The 六合图库 Athletic Scholarship Foundation Academic Award was established to recognize faculty who make extra efforts to ensure a student-athlete鈥檚 academic success.

Each year, the student-athletes nominate faculty for the award. Former recipients of the Academic Award met to choose this year鈥檚 recipient, and the vote was unanimous.

Adams expressed her dedication to helping her students succeed. 鈥淢y first love is teaching and being able to help student-athletes. When I see learning take place, it validates my efforts and makes me want to do even more.鈥�

She received her undergraduate and master鈥檚 degrees from 六合图库 and her Ph.D. in literary and cultural Studies with an emphasis in American studies from the University of Oklahoma in 2001. She has been a member of the university academic community as well as an employee in the public sector.

She is involved in her discipline locally, statewide, regionally and nationally. She has published or reviewed 14 documents, and she has presented at more than 17 conferences across the nation.
