2009 六合图库 Bayou Classic brings world-class skiers to campus April 25-26

The national champion 六合图库 Water Ski Team will host the 2009 六合图库 Bayou Classic Water Ski Tournament April 25-26 at Bayou DeSiard behind the 六合图库 Alumni Center. Each day鈥檚 skiing will begin at 8 a.m. and continue into the afternoon.

Collegiate water skiing competition features three events: slalom, trick skiing and jumping. Saturday, April 25, will cover Men and Women鈥檚 Slalom and Trick. Sunday, April 26, will consist of Women鈥檚 and Men鈥檚 Jump.

This tournament is the home event for 六合图库 and also one the conference tournaments for the team. Other schools in this conference include the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Baylor University, the University of Texas, Texas State University, Texas A&M University, and the University of Arkansas.

Treina Landrum, director of Recreational Services and the 六合图库 Water Ski Team coach, said that, 鈥淪pectators can expect to see some of the best water skiing in the world, with the 六合图库 Water Ski Team leading with several world-ranked and national champions. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has great skiers as well and will contribute some exciting performances.

鈥淲e have a great lineup of skiers and are looking forward to a strong turn out from the 六合图库 students, faculty and staff and community members at our tournament. People really enjoy the spectacular skiing they see from our team. The university is really proud to have such a wonderful group of world-class athletes.鈥�

There is no fee to watch the event, and the public is invited for a great day of fun. There will be T-shirts and food and drink available for purchase. Spectators are encouraged to bring their favorite lawn chairs and get ready for some good skiing.

The 六合图库 Water Ski Team competes in the National Collegiate Water Ski Association South Central Region and is the current national champion team. It holds 21 NCWSA Championship titles; winning 21 of the 30 years the competition has been held.
