ͼ faculty member invited to speak on intelligent design theory

Holly L. Wilson, Ph.D., professor of philosophy at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will present a talk this weekend for the Darwin Days Celebration at Louisiana State University-Shreveport.

Her talk, “Why Intelligent Design is a Protestant Theory of Creation,” will be held as part of a panel discussion from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 in the Science Lecture Auditorium at LSU-Shreveport.

Wilson joins a panel of distinguished LSU-S faculty, including Stephen Banks, Ph.D., professor of biology; Helen Taylor, Ph.D., professor of English; Stephen Brennan, Ph.D., professor of English; and Cran Lucas, Ph.D., professor of biology.

“Darwin Days” celebrates the Charles Darwin Bicentennial, a British naturalist best known for his theory of evolution by natural selection. Darwin believed variation could make a difference in a species’ survival.

The Department of Biological Sciences and the College of Sciences at LSU-Shreveport will sponsor the event.
