About the ÁùºÏͼ¿â Gerontology Program

Master of Arts in Gerontology (MA)

This degree program is 30 credit hours. Graduate Assistantships may be available to qualified students.

Those students entering the program will be required to complete a core curriculum and then may choose one of the following areas of specialization:

  1. Aging Studies - Focuses on preparing students for advanced degrees in Gerontology to pursue careers in research, policy development, and higher education.Ìý
  2. Long-term Care Administration-ÌýFocuses on training students to become administrators in Assisted Living facilities, Skilled Nursing Care facilities, and other long-term care facilities that provide services to the elderly population.
  3. Grief Care Management-ÌýFocuses on training students to become grief care coordinators and group coordinators/facilitators in agencies such as, hospice care, hospitals, outpatient clinics, funeral homes, etc.Ìý
  4. Health Care Management- combines geriatric training with business management skills.Ìý

In addition to the University requirements for admission to the Graduate School at ÁùºÏͼ¿â, all applicants for regular admission to the Master of Arts in Gerontology degree program must meet program admission requirements.
